On May 5, several hundred people will gather at the Heritage Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, at 7:30pm, to support eighteen excited yet thankful PRTS students as they are awarded their theological degrees, plus two graduates recognized for completing their degree requirements last December. A total of two Master of Arts, seven Master of Divinity, and eleven Master of Theology degrees will be awarded, Lord willing. Remarkably, these twenty graduates—PRTS’s largest graduating class ever–came to PRTS from thirteen countries. Many will or have already returned home to take up calls as pastors and/or teachers; some have plans to further their education before entering full-time service.
This year’s commencement speaker is Dr. Stephen Myers, Professor of Historical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. His message, A Vision for Ministry, will be taken from Revelation 1:12-20.
Participating in this year’s ceremony will also include, Dr. David Murray, Professor of Old Testament and Practical Theology, who will open the service with a Psalter, Scripture reading, and prayer, Dr. Adriaan Neele, Director of the Doctoral Program and Professor of Historical Theology, who will introduce the commencement speaker, Dr. Joel Beeke, President and Professor of Systematics and Homiletics, who will give the graduating class a personal charge and each graduate a Bunyanesque name describing their personal character, Dr. Jonathan Engelsma, PRTS Board Chairman, who will award each graduate his or her degree on behalf of the seminary, and Dr. William VanDoodewaard, Professor of Church History, who will close the service with prayer.
Thanks so much for your ongoing support, and please join with us, if possible, to share in this special occasion. Your presence means far more to these graduates (and to the faculty) than you know! You may also watch it live on SermonAudio.com.
