Distance Education

Four Types of Distance Ed Classes

Online

Online courses are not synchronous with an on-campus course; there are no set meeting times. The student moves through the course on a weekly schedule and interacts with other enrolled students around a common body of instruction. Online courses require students to interact weekly with other students' posts via discussion boards.

Live-streamed

On-campus courses can at times be taken from a distance. Live-streamed courses appear on our semester course schedule and the classes require weekly (virtual) meetings throughout the semester. Using video-conferencing, students can take these courses from a distance. The distance student is required to meet online at the same time as the class happens on campus.

Independent Studies

Independent Studies do not require weekly meeting times (like the live-streamed course) or dialogue with other enrolled students (like the online course). Typically students will watch or listen to a recorded course that occurred in the past, and complete the requirements on his/her own according to the syllabus. The student will be given a maximum time-frame within which to complete the class.

Language Courses

PRTS offers a total of fourteen (14) credits in online Greek and Hebrew language study; six credits in Greek, and eight credits in Hebrew. These courses do not require weekly meeting times (like the live-streamed course) or dialogue with other enrolled students (like the online course). Typically students will be given a maximum time-frame of 52 weeks within which to complete each online language course.
