Tiago Oliveira

Doctoral Student in Biblical Studies

Tiago is a doctoral student in Biblical Studies at PRTS, under the supervision of Dr. Daniel C. Timmer. His research focuses on the Biblical Theological theme of rest, particularly the place and contribution of the book of Joshua in the development of the theme of rest and its use in Hebrews 4:8.

Prior to enrolling at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, he completed an MDiv in 2016 at Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, MS, where he received the Senior Awards in Greek and Theology.

Tiago is originally from Portugal, where he plans to return, D.V., in 2021, to serve as the pastor of First Baptist Church of Lisbon and the President of Martin Bucer Seminary Portugal. After being ordained, he has served six years as a pastor in Lisbon, Portugal, and at Grace Baptist Church, Jackson, MS. He currently lives in Washington DC, where he serves at 9Marks. He is also partnering with the Portuguese Bible Society as an exegetical consultant in a major revision of the most-used Bible translation in Portugal.

Tiago is married to Marta and they have three boys (Rúben, David, and Tiago).
